Derek's poetry is, no shock, very nice. The flow, the meter, the variety...all a pleasant find. He has a knack for description that a lot of authors just don't seem to care about anymore; probably one of my favorite aspects of his book, Boy 39. I would imagine poetry to be an extraordinary outlet for him creatively.But, the standout in this book is Sara Norcott. Her prose is beyond description!! There is some serious emotion being displayed via something so simple as an excellent vocabulary. Friendship, love which may or may not be lost, memories of a mother's love...the list goes on. I found myself skipping over Derek's poems just to get to the next piece written by Sara. (No disrespect, Derek.)
As much as I respect both authors, after reading this I truly wish they would have both written more and released books individually. I found it difficult at times to bounce back and forth between poetry and prose, as they are just two very different forms of literary artistry. But, in the case of this book, artistry is definitely the word of the day!!

What a fantastic collection. So glad I purchased!
This book of poetry has amazing depth. Its personal nature leads one to feel as though they are taking an all too personal look into the heart and lives of its authors. In its revealing nature you realize that you are looking more into your own life experiences. A must read for anyone looking to refresh their perspective.
Along with its touching nature, the rhythm, meter and other technical aspects of the poetry compliment the message it is conveying and display refined sense of control over the art.
